The Sculptor Galaxy
This is so far the shot I like the most. I took this in the first week of October 2011. Taken with my QHY8 and Guided with PHD. I took around 10 light frames, 10 flat frames and 8 Bias frames. I used Nebulosity (Paid Ver) to capture and batch process the images. I then used Photoshop to process the final image. I live in a light polluted area, so getting good long exposure images is some what of a challenge. I have been fortunate enough to meet a helping hand via the Ice in Space forum who has helped me a great deal (Thanks Mark).
The Sculptor Galaxy NGC253
The galaxy was discovered by Caroline Herschel in 1783.
Distance: 10 million light years (one light year = 10 Trillion km) away from our solar system.
This is an image for Astrophotography by Martin Marriette.
